In his words… “I love gear. I’ve been buying bike bags and gear for a long time. I think perhaps the most exciting part of a race is the prep. I’ve rigged my bikes and re-rigged them time and time again for just one event, and that process is extremely fun. When it all works perfectly on the trail or on the road, the prep pays off. In addition to rigging for my own rides, I’ve shared gear by loaning it out and always enjoyed seeing the adventures my personal bags went on without me.”
A bit of history… This bag building all started when John got a message from a friend crying, “I’m going bikepacking, and I need gear!” Lea suggested John build those bags. That suggestion put things in motion and after a short time, they bought the shop assets of another local bag company, Three Toes Threadworks from Derek Thocker. Derek built beautiful bags (many of which John had purchased), and those gorgeous bags have continued to served as an inspiration for John’s own designs and work.
The present… Our dedication to your needs is top of the list. We will take as much time designing your rig, whether it’s one bag or a full compliment of gear as necessary. Your adventure is our number one focus.

Lea drives the behind-the-scenes elements of Johnny D's Bike Bags. Her favorite cycling adventure is riding with John on their Schwinn beach cruiser tandem, keeping an eye out for plants, berries, and mushrooms.
